The Group creep up to the mansion as darkness falls but are ambushed by what seem to be animated trees that rush towards them. The fight that ensues is difficult as the majority of their attacks seem not the harm the trees until Storm starts to throw fire at them. Decious, aware that he can be of no aid decides to scout out around the back of the house.
With the trees finally dead, the group follow where they believe that Decious went and are met by his wolf cub who seems quite terified. Decious then appears stating that there is a way in through a kitchen door at the back. Opening the door the group move in with Decious at the rear. As the last person enters Decious attacks. Alarmed the group rally quickly and attempt to subdue him. Wu Chan Li, who has been studying new magic recently, decides to dispel whatever must be driving Decious. He is in luck and the next moment Decious drops his weapons in a sign of surrender.
Accepting that he was dominated just like Kid, the group proceed more cautiously. They are part way up the stairs when a woman attacks them. Fighting back the group are astounded when she climbs the wall onto the ceiling. Quick thinking, Storm unleashes searing light towards her and they watch in horror as she burns up turning into a cloud of gas. The gas starts to move and heads past them up the stairs. They decide to follow. Moving into a bedroom the gas passes through a trapdoor in the roof, dissappearing from sight. They hastily gain access to the trapdoor and head up into what appears to be an attic room. Within the room are two coffins. Investigating them they find the woman within. There is a moment of hesitation as they try to decide what to do before they destroy the coffins and the woman within throwing the remains onto the lawn to be burned when the sun rises. Within the woman's belongings they find a stone with a trapped soul within.
Further investigating the attic they find an office with necromancy books, several items or interest and a coffin. They destroy this before taking the items and leaving. As they reenter the bedroom below they hear a sound coming from a small room that is barred from the inside. Opening the door they found a bedragled young man whom Storm and Adoni recognised as Talen. He had been under the spell of the woman but with her destroyed was now free again. Joining them he lead them to the library where Iontu was currently working.
Talen convinced him that he was still under the sway of the woman and told him to follow him to the kitchen. Once in the corridor the group attack him. Unable to properly defend himself and burned by the silver on their weapons Iontu also succumbs to gaseous form and tries to make his escape. Finding his coffin in the attic broken however he heads for the woods with the group in pursuit. Adoni leads as he rides Book as fast as he can after Iontu. Iontu heads towards a cave and Adoni enters it behind him. Unfortunately Retri has been hiding out here since his discovery as a lycanthrope and attacks Adoni. Sending up obscuring mist does not save Adoni from being knocked unconcious however and the rest of the group arrive in time to stop Retri killing him.
Dispatching Retri finally, after a hard fight, the group find Iontu's coffin and destroy the vampire. They then return to court to find it in uproar. It has been discovered that several of the court members were under the influense of dominion. Adoni is taken to a healer for the wounds inflicted by Rentri while Storm and Wu Chan Li go talk to Tren about magic items and things they have found. Talen vanishes into the town while Decious and Kid go to talk to Dran about their findings.
When Decious and Kid arrive in court they are asked about their trip to Iontu's and any information they had glean. Emerging from behind the throne, Tasha Itune awaits their answers. Wary the two decide not to reveal the contents of a letter the group found detailing a link between Iontu and Patal Shun the ambassador to Fereheen instead just telling her that they are unsure of exactly how Iontu was involved. Tasha accepts this and they leave to talk to Rei Marin. On showing her the letter she states "do not tell Tasha until Wei Farimh has seen this".
The group regroup in Tren's workshop, which he has lent them in order for them to release the soul trapped in the stone they found. Breaking it a haggard female form appears. She had been sent to the court a few weeks earlier and thinks she was imprisoned when she heard something she should not have. When the group explain that they are returning to Tintar she asks to accompany them.
