Hobbling across the plains the group do their best to head towards the nearest town that they know of. However their progress is achingly slow with Eikre hobbling using Tallulah as a crutch. The group notice a moving vehicule in the distance and creating a rukus manage to get it to stop. Making their way towards it they get a spotlight aimed at them and a voice asks them to identify themselves. Greetings aside the driver of the vehicle invites them to dine with him and states that they can ride on the side panels of his truck to the next town he is going to. He also suggests that they sleep under the truck as the lights will keep the vermin at bay.
Exhausted from their ordeal the group fall asleep only to be woken by the truck roaring into life and the man starting to driving off. Scrambling to their feet they climbed onto the side panels and followed the man on his journey.
Joining up to one of the few thoroughfares in the land they trundled on for the better part of a day stopping only to eat lunch. This is when they finally found out the name of their mysterious benefactor Finkus Flint. He shows them his wares that turn out to be lots of scrap metal scrounged from various ruins.
They set off again and meet up with some Post Riders who Tallulah swear are on foles but that Leah's sharp eyes correct for the mounts are in fact Pansars. They warn that the road ahead might be flooded and ask if they want anything taking to Hindenburg before they ride on.
The group enter the town of Skarvsta in early evening and leaving Finkus to start advertising his wares, go about their business.
Aware that Eikre needs healing and that they are in dire need of antivenom Esme finds an apothecary and stocks up. She then aids a young boy treat his mother. Wanting to repair her Autoinjector she heads to the town factory to locate a mechanic.
Eikre and Leah with Tallulah in tow, buy food for the rest of the week and find a place to stay for the night. The next day they head in to the factory to mend Eikre's weapon. Unable to pay Esme trades her services and a doctor to the workers. Not quite as good as new Eikre is still happy to have his gun in working order again.
Esme then shows the mechanic the cylindar they picked up and wonders if he knows what it is and how much it would be worth. He hazards a guess at a battery but states he can not afford such a quality piece of machinery and refuses to take it off their hands.
Broke and with no goods to sell the group consider their options. The factory mechanic points out that he is in need of lifting help and will pay 6kr a week to anyone willing. The group agree to consider the offer but decide to find alternate work.
Esme makes an attempt to sell her services as a doctor but is stopped by a guardsman who demands that she aquire a license first. Unable to make him change his mind she makes her way to the townhall where she is given a form and told to fill it in in triplicate.
Meanwhile Leah heads for the wealthier part of town to see if any of the leaders of the town are hiring. Knocking on a few doors she eventually is greeted by Miles Terth who owns one of the factories. He tells Leah that he has a problem he would like them to "fix" for him. Unsure of the legality of what he is suggesting Leah says that she needs to confer with her collegues and should they want the job will be back in an hour. She then beats a hasty retreat.
Tallullah and Eikre (who has now been healed enough to walk on his leg again) hear comments in town of a job going at the local paper. Meeting up with Leah they go to find out more. The rumours are in fact true. A journalist by the name of Tabatha Sway is looking for some protection for a week as she fears that some local thugs will try to attack her.
The trio also go back to the factory where they find that the foreman Rubin Boren is looking for a group of explorers to undertake an expedition with him.
At the townhall Esme is finding the forms difficult to follow but a young woman called Kalla comes to her aid. Thaking her she invites her along to meet her associates. Gathering together in the market place they gain the attention of a robot called B-08 who is also looking for work. Proving that he is a good mechanic the group bring him along to the local pub where they discuss what job they are willing to take.
Hoping that they can convince to delay Rubin Boren for a week so that they can aid Tabatha the group split up to gain more information about the jobs.
Rubin is only too happy to allow them the time to prepare themselves and explains that the map he has is vague at best but was passed to him from his parents. They themselves died soon after returning from the Musk Zone so his information is limited. He agrees to pay for all their expenses telling them to send him the tab from the local stores and then pay for any item they find that is worth his while.
Tabatha explains reluctantly that she has information on a man called Korp Turik and is hoping to publish it in the newspaper at the end of the week. A local thug, who she describes as a large bear with a long scar on the left side of his face, stopped by the day before and threatened violence if she went ahead with her plan. She now fears for her safety though she says that the newspaper itself is safe as the press is at a hidden location.
The group quickly decide to try to locate the bear but make sure that someone is with Tabatha at all times.
