Day 6 Evening ~ Skye

We have been heading norht along narrow roads but should reach Pirate's Swoop by tomorrow. The camp we have set up is near the edge of a forest. During watch Arashi heard noises that Snite stated were simply animals. Orana told me later that they were wolves.

Day 7 ~ Skye

We headed south again come morning. The roads are quiet again. The bandits on the trails make it hard for ordinary folk to move from place to place. The jounrey took most of the day but the baron requested our presence as soon as we arrived. He is not as noble looking as most barons we have met before. His clothes are worn and his hair falls long and untended. He informed us that our task would start the next day. When asked the last whereabouts of the one we sought the baron mentioned Corus, Scanra and where we now stood. Apparently the man has been captured by Scanra in the past and accused of spying. I accepted the castle map he gave us and retired to the noble guest quarters. The other chose to investigate this new place.

Day 8 ~ Skye

It would seem as if my companions have as usual found the place to go for information. Ren even met the current king of thieves confirming what we had heard, that only one had ever survived the task. The man we have to find was given a royal pardon it seems and it is from then onwards that his spying career started. Thinking to impress Ren no doubt the King of Thieves mentioned their exploit of stealing the crown jewels. However when pressed he had to admit that they had been retaken along with all the records that the guild kept. She did however obtain a list of the robberies made by the guild recently.

I myself chose to rise early and sought out the captain of the guard. Tall as they all are I had to have the aid of Arashi to avoid a crick in my neck. It would seem they are not used to talking to people of my stature. He did offer the me the courtesy of joining his guard at morning practise. It was an enjoyable workout and I can say that his guards are not lacking in skill for I did need a healer after the bout. However I think my companion needed it more than I. The Captain was glad that I could teach his student not to be overconfident in a situation that would not risk his life. The Captain mentioned that there had been a smuggling issue in Pirates Swoop recently and he was hoping to deal with it soon. The ex King of thieves it seems is good in a knife fight, beating all the assassins sent against him. An old guard, who now teaches instead of fighting, explained that this man even walked into the palace in the light of day without detection. There was some rumour about him keeping ears as trophies or those who tried to overthrow him, but I do not know how much to believe such a tale. 12 years ago he dissappeared though he occasionally is thought to be seen. A msater of disguise noone knows exactly what he looks like.

Leon was very gracious and helped find a cleric to remove the curse from Ren's bracelet and cloak so I could finally return the items I had held for so long.

Snite it seems has the ability to scry and spent most of the day on this task. I am in awe of the skill he displays though I do not like the thought of being sought in this manner. It seems he did succeed in locating the ex King of thieves and he also seems interested in the smugglers in Pirate's Swoop. It seems he leads a betwork of spies and needs more for whatever he is planning.

We were called to the baron again that night though Ren was unable to join us occupied as she was. Orana spotted a hidden door on the way to the meeting and after informing the baron of our successes we investigated it. Apparently this leads to caves in the harbour though noone has been there in a long while. We need to locate these smugglers to see if we can find the ex king of thieves in the process. I have a plan and on telling the others they agreed that it was something to try. On the morrow we will attempt to follow the baron to see if he meets up with anyone who could be the man we seek. For a friend of nobles would surely know the baron.

Snite tried to scry again before the night was through and He is within the castle! It is hard to believe that he is so close and yet we know not if he is the servant we pass in the hallway or the guard that stands watch by the Baron's door. He has plans for the morning and I can only hope that part of them involves the Baron.

I will sleep now for there is much to do and I must be rested if I am to perform my tasks adequately.
