Approached in his capacity as a City Soul, Adoni is asked by an old man to find his grandaughter Ren. After an brief conversation the man admitts he thinks she was taken because he could not pay his gambling debts. However he is unsure where she is being held. He can however give the name of the establishment that he gambles at.
Taking no chances Adoni turns to a rogue contact of his to see if she can dig up any more details.
Simultaneously Rikash who works for the same clan as the old man takes up the trail. Working his way up the chain with only one clue. Ren has been taken to "a house of negotiable affections".
The rogue has some success and sends back information to Adoni that the girl might be being held at The Blossoming Lotus. Sending the rogue in, Adoni decides to follow descreetly.
The rogue and Rikash both enter by the front pretending to be customers in order to waylay any fears. Neither is aware of the other. On entering the establishment it becomes clear to them that this is a classier place than most people could afford. Geishas greet and serve the customers while the women and men who are there for other pleasures stay clear unless asked for.
Waiting for a suitable moment the rogue left silently through the kitchen and into the rooms above. A while later Rikash moved down a side corridor and to the room above where he runs into a tailor. Taking Rikash's hint the tailor makes himself scarce exiting into a side alley from the building. Rikash follows to make sure he leaves and meets Adoni in the alley. After a brief suspicious conversation they realise they are on the same mission and agree to cooperate.
Disguising himself as a geisha using abandoned robes Adoni follows Rikash upstairs where, after much searching, they find a back door in the Madame's office. This leads them into the hidden part of the Madame's establishment. There running into the rogue who has an altercation with Rikash. Taking important documents from the desk they also visit a trophy room where a further few items are pocketed by the bodyguard.
Making their way down to the cellars they fight off the guards and find Ren stashed under a trap door. They escape with no trouble at all. The next day Adoni is sent to Wei Farimh by his mentor.
