Back in Tintar the group talk to Wei Farimh who takes their information and introduces them to their new group member, the geisha they rescued from the soul stone. The group then split up as Wei Farimh asks them to return the next day.
After doing various jobs around town each fo the members of the group head to the carnical that is currently happening in town. There are sorcerers and performers galore within the carnival area but one place seems to have a larger crowd than others. An old man has a huge stand with man shaped wooden mannekins on. As he pulls the strings in his hands the mannikins dance much the amusement of the audience.
Geisha leaves the carnival without a thought as she is on the way to an important engagement at the Ramadaar embassy. Adoni and Storm are watching the mannekins when they spot Wu Chan Li staring at them in abject horror his face drained of colour. Making their way through the crowd they are met by Kid and Decious. Upon reaching him Wu Chan Li explains what he sees when he looks on the caravan. Instead of mannekins there are people held up by the ropes. Their mouths are sewn shut and their bodies carved with symbols. As they jerk in a strange dance, he can tell that some of them at least are still alive. Kid's grim look indicates that he can see the same. As the caravan master is occasionally inviting people onto the stage and into a section of the cart that cannot be seen, Adoni reaches a quick decision. Gaining the attention of the crowd he calls for them all to leave the carnival by order of the City Souls as the area is now dangerous. The majority of the crowd respond favourably though some remain.
Adoni then imediately tries to detain the old man but he shruggs of the spell cast. Storm and Wu Chan Li climb onto the stage as Decious and Kid follow. Grappling the old man, Storm sends lightnign through his body but he throws her off him soon after. As Book leaps up after them, five strange creatures with grotesque bodies and arms seemingly too long for them, appear on and around the stage. Soon after another four show up. Aware that these foul beasts are in amongst the crowd, Adoni continues calling for them to go home. As a full scale battle ensues and several crowd members scream in horror at the demons before them, a few horses loose control and shies into the crowd trampling people as they pass. The group fight bravely to remove the demons in their path but are confounded when the old man cast a spell causing Kid, Book and Adoni to become confused.
Storm who manages to stand clear of the demon fighting her tries to dispel the effects. She succeeds for all but Adoni who is now babbling coherently much to the horror of the crowd. Hysteria has broken out as people are attacked by both fleeing horses and demons. Dispatching several of the demons, Storm calls down lightning to harm those demons in the crowds. Decious and Kid attack the man, that Storm now knows is Peter. Wu Chan Li, free of any danger looks around to see a cart escaping behind the stage they are on. Shouting out he gets the attention of those fighting but they cannot aid him. Adoni, no longer confused, looks around to see many injured and dying in the chaos that the horses and demons have caused. A cart has also partially overturned crushing several bystanders. He sees five guardsmen arrive at the edge of the carnival area and kill the first demon they find. He too notices the cart leaving. However Peter in a bid to escape casts reverse gravity causing Kid, Storm, Decious, Book and Wu Chan Li to rise into the air along with four of the demons, though two of those are unconcious. Not wanting to loose the cart Adoni shifts into the form of a monstrous bee and flys after it. Failing in an attempt to attack Peter, Adoni lands on the roof of the cart.
The guardsmen dispatch the remaining demons as the levitating group escape the reverse gravity zone with a little aid from Wu Chan Li's spells. Meanwhile Adoni returns to his normal form and in an effort to derail the wagon cast a haste spell on one of the horses and then tries to spook them. It takes a few tries but eventually the horses bolt and the wagon overturns as the two do not run side by side. Adoni however looses his footing and flies through the air landing with a crash by a wall. By this time Decious arrives in time to see one robed figure run from the wreckage clasping a wooden box. Not far behind him Peter emerges looking worse for wear. Engaging him in a fight and soon joined by Kid, Peter is knocked out. Recognising the amulet round his neck Adoni removes it.
Upon talking to the Guardsmen, who are led by Wei Farimh, the group find out that they responded to the use of forbidden magic within the square. Putting the blame on the demon possessed Peter, they let them take him into custody. They are however surprised as it seems like Wei Farimh does not know who they are.
Adoni takes the amulet to the Snake clan who gingerly accept it and proceed with binding the medallion back into their ancestors burial urn. Upon hearing about the events in the market the snake clan mage grows pale. It seems the box contained the ashes of the demon and should the robed figure succeed in bringing it to the right location; a resurection attempt could be made. Pledging to call the Ethereal Elves to their aid, Adoni swears to help stop such an attempt. However with the full moon appoaching again Adoni knows he has a personal quest he needs to fullfil.
